Sensei Bryan St. Amour began his journey with Martial Arts in the mid 90’s under the instruction of Master Lamon Kersey. He was promoted to the rank of Shodan by Master Kersey in 2001, and Nidan in 2003. It was during this
time that his love of teaching karate to others began, and when his and Master Al Panazzola’s paths first crossed.
After a break from active training, he joined Master Panazzola at Karate Rocks Family Martial Arts in 2010, and after two years of very intense training, tested for and was awarded his Sandan (third degree black belt) in
2012. He considers his promotion to Sandan to be one of the most challenging and rewarding trials he has ever undertaken.
What followed was a very active number of years of training and honing his skills in traditional karate and kobudo under the expert guidance of Master Panazzola, Sensei Bill Gibbs, and Sensei Guy Hewson, followed by another
break in training due to life events.
Sensei St. Amour is overjoyed to be back training full-time with his Martial Arts family at Karate Rocks. His particular interests are in traditional Okinawan hand and weapons kata, and the real-life applications thereof.
He also enjoys diving deep into the history and lineage of the kata -- ask him anything: if he does not have an immediate answer, he’ll find one for you somewhere.
